Properties
LT-151 is a bifunctional silane possessing a reactive vinyl group and a hydrolysable inorganic ethoxysilyl group. The dual nature of its reactivity allows it to bind chemically to both inorganic materials (e.g. glass, metals, fillers) and organic polymers (e.g. thermo- plastics, thermosets or elastomers), thus functioning as adhesion promoter, crosslinker, and/or surface modifier. LT-151 may also be useful as a moisture scavenger in moisture cure systems where enchanced shelf-life is sought.

Technical data
Reactivity
In the presence of moisture the ethoxy (Si- O CH2CH3) groups of LT-151 hydrolyze to produce ethanol and reactive silanol (Si-OH) groups which can bond to a variety of inorganic substrates or react with each other to form siloxane bonds (Si-O-Si).
To incorporate LT-151 into organic polymers, it is added as a co-monomer - along with typically used monomers and free-radical initiators (diazo compounds or peroxides) - during production of the solution or emulsion polymer.
Reactive in hydrosilation chemistry。The organophilic vinyl end of LT-151 can also react with hydride bonds (Si-H).
Application and performance
For treatment of fillers
LT-151 can be used to improve the affinity of glass fiber, inorganic fillers and resin to react with vinyl, reinforced polyester resin.
Thermoplastics
LT-
151 can be used to crosslink polyethylene homopolymer and its copolymers. In an extruder in the presence of peroxide and heat, the vinyl group will graft to the polyethylene backbone, yielding a silane-modified polyethylene that contains pendant trialkoxysilyl functionality. The grafted polyethylene can then be immediately crosslinked in the presence of a tin catalyst, moisture and heat to create a silane-crosslinked product. silane cross- linked polyethylene is widely used as cable isolation, and sheathing mainly in low voltage applications as well as for hot water/sanitary pipes and underfloor heating. Heat resistance is the main reason for the crosslinking of polymers for cable applications, but crosslinking can also improve the following properties: tear- and crack resistance, chemical resistance, abrasion resistance, memory effect.
Other applications for this technology include:
film, blow-molded articles, sheeting and thermoforming.
Polymer modification
Polymer dispersions (e.g. styrene acrylics), modified with LT-151 show improved adhesion strength in wet conditions and wet scrub resistance.
Sealants
Moisture-initiated crosslinking of resins, improved adhesion, chemical resistance, filler dispersion and weatherability.
LT-151 can make use of the hydrosilylation reaction of synthesis of alkoxy-terminated silicone , production of environmentally friendly RTV-1.
Water Repellents and Surface Protection
Once bonded to inorganic materials, LT-151 hydrophobates the filler surface, create an envelope of protection that extends the life of substrates for years in challenging environments.

Customers considering the use of this product should review the latest Material Safety Data Sheet and label for product safety information, handling instructions, personal protective equipment if necessary, and any special storage condition required. The “Best use before end” date of each batch is shown on the
product label. Storage beyond the date specified on the label does not necessarily
mean that the product is no longer usable. In this case however, the properties required for the intended use must be checked for quality assurance reasons.
